Betty E. Cale, age 90, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Betty was born in Forest City, North Carolina on May 3,1934 to Aden and Mattie (Simmons) Alexander. She was the youngest of 9. Betty came to Tennessee to complete high school. Later, she attended cosmetology school and worked in that profession until retirement. She was married in 1957 to Robert C. Cale in Knoxville, Tennessee. To this union 2 children were born Garry and Terressa. They shared 48 years of marriage.
Betty loved her church and church family. Teaching Sunday School for years she later became a Deaconess where she diligently served proudly. In her free time, Betty loved to crochet. With her compassionate heart she made multiple Afghans for different people at church that were undergoing sickness and were shut in. Betty always had an ice-cold glass of lemonade for anyone who stopped by. If you knew her you knew she loved her family, the color yellow, and her flowers. Betty was very passionate about and nurtured her 4 flower gardens and her 2 vegetable gardens. She truly enjoyed it when someone would bring her fresh flowers; especially when they were her favorite color yellow. Betty always had a beautiful smile that could light up any room. Even during her illness, she continued to sing and praise the Lord at all times including throughout the night. She taught her children how to love one another and to be kind to others. Betty will be greatly missed, but her memories and teachings will forever be embedded in the hearts of all those she touched. Mama Betty will never be forgotten.
