Arthur J. Owens Jr.

Arthur J. Owens, Jr., age 96 of Knoxville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 16, 2017 with his family by his side. He was the longest attending member of Meridian Baptist Church and a deacon. He was a graduate of Young High School and a veteran of the US Army serving in World War II. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company and was a member of the 25 year club. Arthur enjoyed life with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur, Sr. and Emma Owens; wife Opal Owens; son Ronald Owens, Sr.; sister, Eva Nelson; and brother Herbert Owens. He is survived by his children Sandra (Stanley) Davenport; Glenn (Barbara) Owens; Barbara (Robert) Pickens; grandchildren: Robin (David) Smith; Wendy (John) Branch; Ronald Owens, Jr. and Teresa; Randy (Erica) Owens; Stacy (Mitch) Grimm; Kristy (Chris) Cochran; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Marie Owens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meridian Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Meridian Baptist Church. Family will receive friends Monday, June 19, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Meridian Baptist Church, Chapman Highway with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM, Rev. Dana Fachman officiating.
