Anita Vandergrift is poised to make her presence felt in the heavens. Nene departed this life peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. When reflecting on Anita, her bravery and unyielding tolerance are prominent, as is her remarkable ability to embrace individuals from all walks of life, regardless of their backgrounds or beliefs. Anita was also recognized for her readiness to assist those in need, whether by engaging in meaningful conversations or providing transportation during difficult times.
When one thinks of Anita Vandergrift, it is challenging to encapsulate her essence in mere words. She was a nurturing and compassionate figure—a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend—who welcomed everyone without prejudice. Her tough love was essential for those navigating life's challenges, and her strong work ethic in supporting her family was always evident.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Juanita Jones; and sister, Loretta Garcia. She is survived by her husband, Anthony Vandergrift; daughters, Joann Rodriguez, Sally Rodriguez, Magda Garcia, and Delvashia Flanagan; sisters, Debbie Bailey (Paul) and Betty Jones; Brother, Harold Jones (Connie); sister-in-law, Pamela Smith; grandchildren, Alec Rodriguez, Jasmine Rodriguez, Nicholas Rodriguez, Alexis Porter, and Savana Hines (Brianna Best) and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held for Anita on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 1 pm at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 3pm at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery.
