Pack, Alma Marie “Nanna”, age 95, of West Knoxville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Saturday, July 22, 2017. Nanna was born in Murphy, NC and left Murphy for the big city of Knoxville in 1940. Shortly after arriving in town while attending the county fair, a young man caught her attention by “ringing the bell” with the sledgehammer on the Strongman Game. A romance ensued and Paul Pack (Pappaw) and Nanna were married a few months later, a marriage that lasted 72 years. Nanna began her career as a beautician later in life, at the age of 40, opening Alma’s Beauty Shop, located on the corner of Sutherland and Liberty Street. She enjoyed what she did so much that she worked until she was 82 years old. Nanna’s faith was very precious to her and she was a faithful, lifelong member of Marble City Baptist Church. She was also a faithful prayer warrior. If Nanna told you that she was praying for you then you can be rest assured that she was and she did. Nanna also was a gardener and quite possibly, had the greenest thumb of anyone we know. She grew beautiful flowers and vegetables for years. Nanna was an incredible cook and anytime you came to her door, she fed you and made you a pan of fresh biscuits or hot cornbread. Nanna was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Pack; parents, Whit and Eva Dockery; sisters, Vienna, Nola, Lexie, Claudia, Minnie; brothers, Ralph, Irving, Oscar, and Glenn. Survivors include Son and Daughter-in-law, Tom and Janet Pack; grandchildren, Kelly Berry (Fred), and Rob Pack (April); great-grandchildren, Zack Berry (Morgan), Bryce Berry (Taylor) and Jesse Berry, Cannon, Cooper and Carolina Pack; sister, Maggie Davis (Loren); numerous nieces, nephews and friends; special best friend and co-worker, Jane (JB) Garner, whom she loved like a daughter. Family will receive friends from 10 am until 11:30 am Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in the chapel of Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 5315 Kingston Pike Knoxville, TN 37919 with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 11:30 am.
