Alberta Evelyn Douglass was born on July 8, 1933, at the Knoxville home where she would live her entire life. Alberta lived a full and meaningful life, with her main sources of pleasure focused on her faith in Christ and time spent with family and friends. As long as she was able, Alberta loved being part of her church, especially working with children and helping with projects like Thanksgiving baskets for shut-ins and sewing dresses for missions. She cherished her friends and loved going out to eat with them or going on day trips in the local area.
Alberta also enjoyed being with her extended family. At family gatherings she often sat at the “kid’s table” and seemed to enjoy that interaction with her niece and nephews. She always wanted to recognize everyone’s special days…birthdays, anniversaries, or Christmas. Family could always count on a card from Alberta and a loaf of “friendship cake” at Christmas wrapped in a holiday towel. That was just what she did.
Alberta went to her heavenly home on November 17, 2024. Alberta will be missed by many. She was loved by her neighbors, friends and family, and her positive attitude and quick smile will be hard to replace.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Douglass and Essie Mae (Self) Douglass, as well as her siblings Edward Douglass, Thomas Douglass, Essie Ruth (Douglass) Fraker, and Betty Jo (Douglass) Daguio. She is survived by her nieces, nephews, and great-nephew.
The family will be receiving friends at Weaver Funeral Home on Monday, November 25 at 1pm with a chapel service to follow at 2pm. Interment will be at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery at 3pm, also on November 25.
