Kathleen had been living with rheumatoid arthritis pain for some time and although her death was unexpected she had begun to plan for assisted death for later this year. Her passing may have been earlier than planned but it brought her relief and peace.
Kathleen had an exciting life while she was living in England and enjoyed travelling around and getting into adventures with her cousin Lynn. In 1974 Kathleen decided to take on a life altering adventure and moved across the pond to Canada where she met her husband Joseph Raic. Kathleen and Joseph built a life as new Canadians and at the age of 43 Kathleen gave birth to their only son Chris.
Kathleen was a strong willed woman who raised Chris as a single mother after Joseph passed in 2006 all while working for a top end criminal defense lawyer, some great stories came out of that job! Kathleen moved to Kitchener in 2016 and has spent the last six years at Victoria Place retirement home where she met new good friends and liked to kibitz with the staff.
Kathleen will be missed by her friends and family; her sister Maureen and her nephews Matty and Simon in Liverpool, her cousin Lynn and kids Emma-Kate, Cam (Jess) and Alex (Kristjana) and her son Chris (Steph).
Kathleen did not wish to be remembered during a formal memorial service but her parting words to all are to "live a good life!"
