Predeceased by her husband of 42 years Edo (2001) her son Ralph (1997), her parents Ludwig and Marie Schelling and her siblings Gerda, Lucie, Marie and Ludwig all of Germany.
Hannelore was a dedicated wife, mother and Oma who supported her husband in his painting and decorating business and always made family a priority. She was a life long member of the German-Canadian Hunting & Fishing Club (Hubertushaus) in which she was part of the women’s group and was involved with many events including Oktoberfest. Throughout their years together Edo and Hannelore supported their German heritage being involved in the Co-operative Council (Arbeitsgemeinschaft) of the German-Canadian Clubs and the Trans-Canada Alliance of German-Canadians.
Hannelore was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors. She spent most of every day outside tending her gardens or going for walks around Mannheim and at the cottage on Lake Huron, her favourite place. Many summers were spent holding impromptu fish fry’s after Edo and Hannelore would bring in a mess of fish and she would fry them up for all the neighbours to come by and enjoy. Hannelore enjoyed bowling and was in several bowling leagues over the years. A generous baker, Hannelore would always be making treats for her friends and neighbours and dropping them off with a smile, just because.
Friends who wish to celebrate Hannelore’s life are invited to attend a gathering at the German-Canadian Hunting and Fishing Club, 1605 Bleams Rd., Mannheim on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. A private family memorial is being held at Williamsburg Cemetery.
A special thank you to the staff at Warm Embrace and The Westmount LTC for all your care and support.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated.
