Daughter of Edith and Norman Kaster, she was predeceased by her sisters Irene and Mary and her brother, Wes. She is survived by her beloved brother, Stewart (Grace). Erma was predeceased by her first husband, Delmore Toman (1975) and her second husband, Clifford Pitz (2022).
She will be greatly missed by her children Adele Reeves (late Ronald), Stephen (Brenda) Toman, and Eric (Pauline) Toman. Loved by her grandchildren: Ellie, Jeremy (Shannon), Adam (Julie), Nathan (Natália), Rebecca (Matt), Matthew (Carrie) and Jason. Great grandmother of Sophia, Paisley, Lewyn, Margot, Molly and Daniel. Stepmother of Jacqueline Rousell (Brad), Thomas (Pam) Pitz, Rick (Brenda)Pitz, Dan (Fran) Pitz and Margaret Detlor (Bill). Erma graduated as an RN from Galt General Hospital in 1952 and spent her career in Kitchener and Cambridge Hospitals. She played a significant leadership role in the development of hospice care in Cambridge.
Over the course of her life, Erma was an active volunteer in church and community. She had a strong interest in gardening and handicraft and she enjoyed time at her cottage on Whiskey Harbour and of course watching her beloved Toronto Blue Jays. Erma was a dedicated Friend, Sister, Mother, Grand Mother and Great Grandmother and will be missed by everyone.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900) on Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 10 am - 12 pm with a memorial service in the chapel at noon. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Erma’s name to Innisfree House Hospice, 2375 Homer Watson Blvd., Kitchener, ON N2P 0E9.
