Dear John, 
 My deepest and heartfelt condolences to you and your family.  May the Lord give you comfort in this time of sorrow and pain. I had the wonderful opportunity of knowing Elaine for a few years through GoodLife where I worked with her in the JUMP room. Elaine was one of the most positive and cheerful persons I have ever known.  She  loved being around kids. She was very devoted to her work even though it was voluntary. She was proud of her family, and of the life she had built with you. Her strength, both mental and physical, were unmatched. She was an inspiration to us all! Wish I could have said  my good-bye to her. She will be missed. May her soul rest in peace!

Elaine was well known and well loved by GoodLife members and children of the JUMP! room where I worked and  Elaine was a dedicated and  faithful volunteer for many years.   Elaine would always arrive with a smile and a positive attitude.   I admired her energy and work ethic, she was always looking for something to clean or tidy up. Elaine was so loving, patient and gentle with the children, they all adored her and some even called her “grandma”. I will miss our time together chasing the little ones, chatting and swapping recipes. My heart goes out to John and the family. May you have  peace and comfort.

I met Elaine and John through GoodLife many years ago.  I looked forward to seeing their smiling faces and hearing about their most recent adventures each and every Sunday Bodystep class. Elaine eluded a zest for life and a love of fitness  and she will be dearly missed. I will especially miss her glares from the back row when I chose a mix with way too many burpees.

I can't imagine the pain you are feeling from the loss of someone so dear and special. Our deepest sympathy is being sent to you and the family in this note. I feel like I was just getting to know Elaine as we worked away at completing the Kocher family tree. I must have thought of her a hundred times this year but I never reached out and now I will be forever sorry that I didn't. Many air hugs are being sent your way and I wish I could have been there to say"good bye"

Our hearts go out to John, Jolene and Chris, Tawnya and Steven and all the grandkids and extended family. We met 18 years ago when we purchased the lot beside their cottage. She and John were the best neighbours we could have asked for. We will miss her.

The following special announcement was shared by Brett Marchand at Manulife today.  It was written with the help of Larry Johnston.
It’s with deep sadness that I share news of the passing of Elaine Meyer. A dedicated and well-loved Manulife employee for 30 years, Elaine died on Saturday after fighting a courageous battle with a sudden illness. 
From the time she joined Manulife’s Group office in Kitchener as a Group Service Representative in 1982, Elaine impressed everyone around her with an incredible work ethic, boundless energy and refreshing common sense. She was a quick learner, extremely efficient, and very professional, combining these qualities with amazing people skills – we all enjoyed working with Elaine. Customer-obsessed long before we coined the term, Elaine served GRS as a Client Relationship Manager for years, before retiring from Manulife in 2012.
Elaine’s career witnessed a lot of change – office moves, changes in reporting relationships, the splitting of the Life and Health and Retirement businesses into two BUs. Fortunately for us, Elaine stayed with the Retirement organization. Through it all, she possessed the temperament to manage the change with skill.
Elaine enjoyed her Manulife career, but she also loved life. A good athlete, she was tiny but tough. Elaine played an active role in Manulife’s involvement in the community. For years at the annual Ride for Heart fundraiser at RIM park in Waterloo, Elaine took centre stage before the ride, leading stretching exercises with the participants before they set off on their bikes.
Nothing was more important to Elaine than her values and her strong ties to family. Husband John and daughters Tawnya and Jolene, (and the girls’ families) were always the biggest part of her life.
On behalf of the entire organization, I want to extend our sincere condolences to Elaine’s family and to her friends both within and outside Manulife. A private memorial service will be held by the family.

John, kids and grandkids, I am so very sorry for your loss. Elaine was a friend I will never forget. We are all saddened by this unexpected loss.. I will always be thankful that I had the opportunity to have known her in my early working life at Manulife.  She was inspirational.  She has left us with so many wonderful memories. We will cherish them forever.

So sorry to hear about Elaine's passing. Sending our sincere sympathy to the Meyer and Kocher families, at this sad time.  We enjoyed viewing the pictures on the tribute video. Elaine will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Elaine touched many hearts in her abbreviated time with us and every one of us that she spent time with were better people for it.  A very special person.

I am so sorry to hear of Elaine's passing. I worked with her for a few years before she retired and I fondly remember her to be such a firecracker with an unlimited amount of energy!  I admired her for her welcoming personality, always willing to help out and answer questions and her ability to balance work and life including her love of being physically active!  

My family and I used to do the Manulife Ride for Heart out of RIM park several years ago and we fondly remember Elaine leading the pack with a warm up before the long bike ride.  :)  

It was a gift to know her and we are deeply sorry for your loss.

My deepest condolences to the John and the Meyer's family.  Elaine is  a dear friend and long time colleague - Manulife.   Elaine's warm personality is something she shared with everyone she came in contact with.    "Friends are the flowers in the garden of life.  A true friend is a great blessing".   My blessing was Elaine.   

Dear John and family, Elaine was a very beautiful person, and we loved her. We are so sorry for your loss. All of you are in our thoughts and prayers throughout this time of grieving. We will miss her! Although Elaine is no longer with us physically, she lives on in the thoughts and hearts of her loved ones. Our blessed assurance is that we will one day be reunited again.
Please take comfort in knowing that your family and friends are thinking of all of you and praying for you to endure and be strengthened to meet every challenge you face.
