Donald Warren Peterson

November 23, 1937 – October 31, 2024

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Donald Warren Peterson passed away peacefully at Hospice Waterloo on October 31, 2024 at the age of 86. He was born in Shelburne, Ontario.

He is predeceased by the love of his life Norma who left us just five short months ago. They were married for 68 years. He missed her immensely. It gives us great joy to know they are reunited.

Loving father of three girls, Suzanne (Bob) Ash of Palmerston, Julie Dickin (Terry) of Ayr and Janeen (Mark) Dickin of Kitchener. He leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was just months shy of becoming a great-great grandpa. He also leaves behind two sisters, Ann Wright of Meaford and Linda Kaczorowski (Steve) of Guelph. Predeceased by two brothers; Carl and Keith. Also missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Don was a great man. He was fun loving, easy going, and happy go lucky. Not too much bothered him. He had the best sense of humour, loved telling groaner jokes that made you laugh. His anniversary of prostate cancer is November 12, 2024 and he was a 22 year survivor. He spent many years at Silverwood Dairy, anything from door to door milkman, truck driver to ice cream salesman. He then went into the pizza business and had Mother’s Pizza in Kitchener. Loved that pizza. Following Mother’ Pizza, he worked for Webers Supply as a truck driver. He loved to drive. He stayed there until he retired, then moved to Point Clark full time. Their retirement consisted of enjoying sunsets, ice cream at the beach and entertaining family and friends. They enjoyed coffee time at the local coffee spots every morning with friends. Many great memories were made at the cottage. Nine years ago they decided to move back the Kitchener to finish out their lives.

To honour Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S, Kitchener on Friday, November 15th at 11:00 am with visitation an hour prior. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Waterloo Hospice or to Movember Canada.

Alone the road of suffering

You found a little lane

That took you up to heaven
