Dave (Laloo) Sieunarine

Loving husband to Shrimati “Shim” for almost 60 years. Father to Steven “Skinner” (Susan) and Peter (Jennifer). Cherished grandpa to Aaron.

Survived by his siblings Sookbass "Gaulin", Hardeo “Harry”, Rukmin “Sylvia”, Sunarie “Cindy”, Hublal “Walter” and Samdai “Debbie” and predeceased by siblings; Dollyah "Dolly", Seeram, Pauline “Perley” and Denzey.

Dave was born in Trinidad in 1935. He earned his teacher’s degree in Trinidad and taught for several years, and this is when he first met Shrimati (Shim). In the early 1960’s he moved to England, and Shim joined him the following year. They wed in October 1964 and immigrated to Canada in November that same year; setting up home in what is now Cambridge. They were blessed with two sons, Steven and Peter. Eventually the family moved to Waterloo and then Kitchener. Dave and Shim were also blessed with one grandson, Aaron, whom Dave loved deeply.

Dave held several jobs in the early years, including selling Encyclopedia Britanica sets, but lastly held several positions at Budd Canada, retiring from the Quality Control Department. Dave loved and lived for cricket. He started playing as a boy and played well into his 60’s. He and Shim also loved travelling and enjoyed many trips throughout the world, some that even included playing cricket. Dave and Shim were proud to be able to sponsor many family members and friends to immigrate to Canada and to see them flourish here. In his later years Dave would spend many happy hours every week walking through Fairview Park Mall, talking to everyone he met.

He will be fondly remembered by his extended family, his many friends and workmates, and a multitude of Steven and Peter’s friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14th from 6-9 pm at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S. There will also be a visitation on Wednesday, May 15 from 10:00 to 10:30 am with a service commencing at 10:30 am. Cremation to follow.
