Janet Leonard, 78, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020 in Kissimmee Fl. Back on August 30, 1941, Anthony and Veronica Calpin gave birth to an angel, Janet. She and her little brother, Tony, were raised in a small town WiIkes Barre, PA where she also attended an all-girl catholic school. Even with all that structure, she was still swayed by the boyish smile of Joseph Leonard. The two were married on September 3, 1960. Soon after, they gave birth to their first beautiful baby girl, Susan Leonard. Enjoying motherhood as much as she did, Janet knew she needed one more blessing to complete her family. Four years later Joe and Janet welcomed Kathleen Leonard to the world. They raised their family in Hamilton Sq., NJ where they lived and served their community for 37 years.
In that time, Janet was a member of St. Gregory’s, the Great Catholic Church where she also advised their youth group and taught their CCD classes. She made contributions to the Humane Society and the Chapin Schools foundation. Janet Leonard was a true pillar of her community.
In 2002, Joe and Janet moved to Kissimmee, Fl. to get out of the snow and into the sunshine. They bought their dream home where they left the door open for all of their grandchildren. Janet was a hard working woman who only wanted the best for her family and she made sure of just that. Her lessons, compassion and love had no conditions and her laughter and smile had no limits. She will be truly and dearly missed
Janet is survived by her brother, Tony and his wife Audrey Calpin; her two daughters, Susan Leonard and Kathleen Chase; her six grandchildren, Amy, Joey, Michele, Katie, KyIe and Robbie; eight great-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew.
Our family would like to give a special thank you to Osceola Regional Hospital and Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Humane Society or the Wounded Warriors.
