Edward ("Ed" or "Eddie") Adam Strecker II, died on September 2, 2022, at the age of 84. He was a resident of the Solivita Community, in, Kissimmee, FL. Ed was born July 13, 1938 in Bay Shore, New York, the youngest of four children, to Henry Anthony Strecker Jr. and Anna Elizabeth Jackson.
Ed was a carpenter, he worked for several companies and was self employed for much of his career. Building houses on Long Island and participating in construction projects for various restaurants and houses of worship in and around New York City. He had the greenest of green thumbs, always creating and tending to prosperous gardens wherever he lived. He even tended to the flowers in the courtyard at Haines City Healthcare, the rehabilitation center where he lived for a number of years after having a stroke late in his life. Ed was a music lover enjoying everything from classical music to jazz-infused rock music of Chicago , and even some disco, when that style of music was in vogue. His favorite musical artist may have been Neil Diamond. Whatever he chose to listen to, he liked to listen loud.
Ed was a loving father, who had a certain of keeping his three sons in line if they roamed to far astray -
he had a distinctive whistle. He loved to tell people who would hear him whistle for his sons, "I'll either get three dogs or three sons in a few minutes." He was also a renowned coach of his sons, Mik's soccer team for a time. Ed had three sons from his first marriage to Lynda Strecker (ne Dries) - John, Edward, and Stephen Strecker. His second marriage was to Barbara Sheridan, to whom he was married until her death in 2019.
Ed is survived by his sons, John Strecker, Edward Strecker Jr., Stephen Strecker, Michael Strecker and his grandchildren - Charles Strecker, Hugh Strecker, Delaney Strecker and Victoria Strecker.
A visitation and prayer for Edward will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Grissom Funeral Home and Crematory, Kissimmee, Florida.
A graveside service will occur Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, Florida.
