Violet was preceded in death by her husband Bert Daku, her daughter Sandra Daku, granddaughter Christa Daku and her siblings: Helen Doka, Andrew Barath Jr, Jimmy Barath and Willie Friday.
With thankful hearts for the gift she was in their lives, Violet is lovingly remembered by her 4 sons and their families: Allan Daku, Dale (Marilyn) Daku, Tim (Colleen) Daku and Murray (Valerie) Daku; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Christa's family, her partner Deric Reaney and children Tanaya (Brittany), Darius and Aimee; Curtis (Vanessa) and their family, MacKenzie, Layton and Kanin; Jamie (Teak) Boyko and their family, Hillary and Bennett; Jessica (Chad) Petracek and their family, Camryn, Dylan and Mason; Clayton Daku (Michelle) and Ashley Daku (Kris). Violet is also survived by her sister Marg (Alvin) Abramson and brother Alex (Diane) Barath; sisters-in-law Edie Barath and Jean Barath (Leslie Hindmarsh).
Violet was a loving and nurturing, selfless and kind woman. She was famous for her wonderful baking and delicious meals. She loved to welcome people into her home and after preparing the meal she would be the last to fill a plate, making sure that all her guests were cared for first. She was happiest when the table was full of family and friends.
Violet was absolutely devoted to her family. Even in the last 4 years, living in long-term care, everyone knew how special her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were to her.
Violet loved flowers and for many years created a beautiful space full of lilies and assorted blooms in the empty lot near their home in Kennedy. Her green thumb extended to the garden where she planted many vegetables to keep her family fed over the winter months. She knew the farm and field work as well, working alongside Bert to milk cows and tend to the crop. She noted in the Kennedy history book that farming gave them a good life. She was an equal partner in making that life a successful one for their family.
The funeral service for Violet will be held in the Kennedy Community Hall on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Barbara Wilkins officiating. The interment will follow in the Kennedy Cemetery.
