Melvin Lineman

Each man has a voyage in life and Melvin Lineman, was a father and a family man. He had three children and their assorted children and grandchildren, Paula (Chris (Corine - 3 boys), Mike (Amber - 2 girls, 2 boys) and Danny (Samm - 3 boys), Maurice (LeeAnne and Kyle), and Richard (predeceased), and a wife Gemma (Anne - predeceased) and a second wife Wendy, following Gemma's passing. To each he was a father and husband, to Anne and Wendy, he was a partner, friend and confidant and to his children he was a mentor and guide. He shared his life, as a father, a man, and as we grew, a friend. When his first wife passed, he marked the end of his first voyage into life.

Following the death of his first wife, his daughter (Paula) made sure her father would not be alone. She posted his information to find him a new partner to share his life. Of the many suitors one stood out; Wendy. They met and Melvin started his second voyage, which brought him another three children and grandchildren; Craig (Heidi - 2 children), Tye (2 children), and Holly (Darren Vipond - 5 children). This brought his family to six children with 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. This was his family. The most important thing in life to him besides Jesus his Lord, whom he called the great mechanic. This man, took to his job as a father, grandfather and great-grandfather with confidence and pride.

His life was storied and alive and he used those moments to teach his family about life, about its ups and downs, and to be the best at what you do. Regardless, of the dimension of the challenge, you face it straight on and do your best because that is what God and life asks of you, nothing more. Life was not about money, or fancy things; living in a tent, going fishing or hunting, hiking to be with family, that was life. Taking risks, measured of course, to achieve something that showed you could challenge yourself (hanging from a rope above a canyon to take a picture through tree especially when afraid of heights) and grow, sharing a homemade beer with anyone, who was ready to try.

He was a teacher, for his children, and his apprentices, some who became an actual part of the family (Kelvin Leake and others). He gave because that was life. He befriended everyone believing firmly in the idea that a stranger is a friend you have not met yet. He grew up in another time, when people had a greater sense of purpose, and identity, and his Identity was massive and incalculable, Massif.

Melvin was all of these and more. It is said that a man's life is written in his children, and Melvins' life was written in his children and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. These are his legacy, the remnants of his life, that will play out through time, bringing a piece of him through every action they undertake, to which they continue the book of Melvin Lineman, a fitting memoire.

The funeral mass was celebrated in St. Ann R.C. Church, Kennedy, Saskatchewan on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. by Rev. Felipe Faustino.
