On Saturday, October 7, 2023, Isabel “Izzy” Wilson passed away tragically in a motor vehicle accident. Izzy was a beautiful 22 year old soul who touched the lives of everyone she met. She had a wild but exceptionally kind heart and all those she touched be it through family, friendship, her gift of dance or being an educator; know they were blessed to meet someone so special.
Izzy will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her parents Quentin and Michelle; her brother Patrick; her sister Emily and Grandma Penny. Izzy was blessed to have found her soulmate in Liam and he, along with his parents Lori and Rob, mourn the loss of this beautiful girl. Isabel was also part of a large extended family including numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who both loved and looked up to her.
Izzy was predeceased by her grandparents Joyce and Jack Wilson and Terry Scully as well as by her aunt Sherisse Scully.
Izzy thrived in being part of the large dance family in Saskatchewan. She loved contemporary dance and excelled in this sport. Isabel received many awards and scholarships. She was excited and more than a little nervous to be invited to participate in the making of a dance video in Los Angeles. Although very talented, Izzy had a very humble heart. She was surprised but elated to be chosen for the U of R dance team all the years she attended University. She felt overwhelmed to receive the “Leadership Award” in the spring of this year. Simply a testament to how much she gave to help others.
Izzy was in the Faculty of Education and was set to convocate in December. She gave 100% to her students and used creative ideas to help kids learn. Isabel had truly found her niche in teaching.
A celebration for the life of Isabel “Izzy” Wilson was held in the Windthorst Community Centre, Windthorst, Saskatchewan on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. The program including video tribute, music and special dances began at 1:30 p.m. There was an opportunity to share memories for those who wished to do so at the gathering. This gathering was meant to be a relaxed time of sharing, support and fellowship.
Memorial contributions may be made to Stars Air Ambulance, 2640 Airport Road, Regina, SK S4W 1A6 (www.stars.ca) or Running Wild Rescue, 290 9th Avenue NW, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 4H2.
In the words of the song Izzy loved so much, her message for all of us “Live your life with arms wide open. Today is where your book begins, the rest is still unwritten.”
