Sharon was born in San Antonio on February 20, 1948 to John and Rosa Lee Malkus. She passed away March 24, 2024. Except for living three years with her family in Germany, she spent the rest of her adolescent years in San Antonio .She graduated near the top of her high school class, and immediately went to work. She met Jim Johnson, then a young military officer in October 1970 and it was mutual love at first sight. They were married in February 1971.
Sharon was a loving spouse, mother, and grandmother. She had two beautiful children. She adored her grandchildren and they adored her. Sharon was a very kind and gracious person and treated everyone with respect. She never met a stranger.
Sharon was very instrumental working with Jim to open the first community insurance agency for Nationwide Insurance in the Houston metro area. Together they built one of Nationwide’s highest regarded agencies.
Sharon and Jim retired from the insurance business in 2014 and except for the Pandemic have enjoyed retirement. After retiring they made trips to Hawaii, Sedona and Phoenix Arizona, Asheville North Carolina, Carmel California, Key West Florida and took several cruises. Unfortunately during the Pandemic they had four trips rescheduled and ultimately cancelled. Sharon loved to travel with Jim and was hoping to do more of that in future years.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 53 years Jim, daughter Kimberly, son in law Matt Thomas, grandchildren Cameron, Peyton, and Carly, and her sister and brother in law Margaret and Donald Christilles. She will now be reunited with her son Brent.
Memorial Service is scheduled June 1, 2024 at Kingwood Funeral Home at 11am followed by Internment at the National Cemetary in San Antonio.
