Marilyn was born in Saginaw, Michigan. She was raised in a musical family, and started playing piano at age 6. She attended Indiana University where she obtained her Bachelor of Music and later a Masters degree in piano accompaniment at the University of Houston. She was a devoted follower of Christ, a beloved wife and mother of two who used her life and love of Jesus to selflessly serve others. Marilyn was happiest when with her family and saw beauty everywhere in Gods’ creation.
Marilyn performed as an accompanist in symphonies, musicals and competitions. She taught music at Brazosport college and piano for 20 years in her own studio. Marilyn wasn’t one to seek attention, but rather wanted to use her talents to support others while staying behind the scenes. She was an active member of Woodridge Baptist Church, as well as several gardening clubs and music associations.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Bob Abbott, her two sons Rick and Rob Abbott, daughter in law Carolyn Abbott, granddaughter Siena Abbott, and brother and sister in law Bill and Ann McIntire.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Woodridge Baptist Church, 5707 Kingwood Baptist Church, Kingwood, Texas 77345.
