Margaret Sipple “Peggy” Bailey, 84, of Kingwood, TX. Passed away on January 30, 2011. She was born on December 11, 1926 to Jacob Selby Sipple and Gertrude Olivia Smith in Tampa, Fl. Peggy graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Tampa in 1944 and married Henry J. “Joe” Bailey in March 1950. Peggy and Joe began their lives together in Tampa before moving to Houston in 1956. While in Houston, Peggy’s first and foremost priority was caring for her family. She was also a member of the Piney Woods Garden Club, where she developed a love of bromeliads. In 1979 they retired to Fort Myers, Fl. where she became active in the Caloosahatchee Bromeliad Society. They also owned and operated FloraTex Inc., raising and marketing exotic bromeliads. In 2005, they moved back to Houston to be near family. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, devoted family member and loyal friend. She had impeccable manners and a great deal of charm. An avid reader, she loved a good mystery novel and a challenging game of Scrabble.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Joe and her son, Steve. Survivors include her son, Don McPherson of Kingwood, Texas; granddaughter Heather Snap and husband Brant along with great-grandchildren Ryder, Vivien, and Maggie, all of Owasso, Oklahoma; granddaughter Lauren McPherson and great-granddaughter Natalie of Boston, Massachusetts; and granddaughter Shelby McPherson of Kingwood, Texas.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Hwy. 59 N. Kingwood, TX. 77339. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to The Salvation Army.
