Douglas Lee Day

Douglas Lee Day, age 78, of Coldspring, Texas passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023. He was born in Lockport, New York on September 20, 1944 to Glenn and Ruth (Frantz) Day. Doug was married to Margaret (Helwig) Day for 60 years. He owned Doug Day Concrete for 15 years and Huffman Motorsports Park for 9 years. Doug had a passion for Nascar and GoCart racing with his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Ruth Day; his in-laws, Raymond and Lizbeth Helwig; and his brother-in-law, John Helwig, who he dearly loved.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; children, Scott Day (Christie), Melanie Miller (Richard), and Carissa Ashlock (Paul); 8 grandchildren, Bradley, Brandon, Andrew, Brittany, Shelby, Jordon, Dylan and MJ; 10 great grandchildren, Noah, Eli, Evan, Makenzie, Holden, Carter, Aidan, Layne, Taylor and Parker; sisters, Audrey Tuttolomondo (Joe) and Karen Gibson; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held for Doug at Kingwood Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 2:00 pm.
