It is with great sadness that the family of James Lee Davis announces his passing after a valiant fight with cancer. James went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. He was 67 years old. James was born on May 29, 1943 in Three Rivers, Texas to Wilber and Elnora Davis. James graduated from Austin High School and served in the U.S. Army for eight years. He then worked for Celanese in Bishop, Texas and retired after 35 years of service. He and his wife, Linda, own Linda’s Main Street Café in Kingsville, Texas. James was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending his time working in the outdoors.
James is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Davis of Kingsville; two sons, Kevin (Kim) Davis of Weesatche, Texas and Greg (Karie) Davis of Frankfort, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Rhett Davis, Ashlyn Davis, Reed Davis, and Rece Davis; two sisters, Doris Johnson of Flagstaff, Arizona and Susie Wilson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and numerous nephews and nieces.
The family would like to extend its sincerest thanks to Vista Care for its compassion & caring and to all churches and prayer groups.
Visitation will take place on Friday, April 15, 2011 with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Ron Earley officiating. Military honors will take place immediately after the chapel service.
