Bill was born on June 03,1940 his birth shrouded in mystery, his biological mother was Fay Franklin, he was adopted by John and Gedena Proffitt Honeycutt. Gedena passed away when Bill was 2 years old. John then married Margaret Berry who then adopted Bill and raised him.
He joined the Navy at 17 years old, he was stationed on the U.S.S Fremont alongside his stepbrother's Bob, Howard and Harold Berry. He retired as a Senior Chief having been a Seabee assigned to the 24th Naval Construction Battalion and served in Operation Desert Shield 1/ Storm alongside his son Mike “Doc” Honeycutt.
He was married to Charlotte Fox for 59 years, they married on June 03, 1963, the day she graduated high school, and his birthday, Charlotte always said so he could remember their wedding anniversary.
He was a member of Homeland Baptist Church and had previously sang in the choir. He retired from Holston Defense after 30 years, and was a founding member of Warriors Path Volunteer Fire Dept.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Charlotte and infant daughter. His siblings Carolyn Honeycutt, Jack, Bob, Howard and Harold Berry, Charlotte Warner and Tommie Jo Grant.
He is survived by his children Michael Honeycutt and wife Sherry, Steven Honeycutt and Amber. 5 grandchildren: William C, Jonathan, Tyler, Andrew and Kaydence Honeycutt, 6 great grandchildren: Isabella, Avery and Bailey Honeycutt and Halen Honeycutt, Jacoby Burke and Kylie Stewart. His half brothers Bruce and Randy Hicks. Several nieces and nephews and Brother-in-law Jim Fox, as well as his special friend Wilma Poore.
William C. Honeycutt, Jonathan Honeycutt, Tyler Honeycutt, Andrew Honeycutt, Gunner Martin, Jacoby Burke will be pallbearers.
