Thomas “Tom” Gordon Marshall, age 67, of Kingsport, entered into rest on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Mr. Marshall was a Hawkins County native and the son of the late Charlie and Hazel Marshall. He retired from Eastman as an operator. Mr. Marshall was an avid golfer, and spent most of his time babysitting for his grandchildren, whom he adored and who adored him. He was a member of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Marshall proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Hudson and two brothers, Kelsey Marshall and John Marshall.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Brenda Marshall; step-daughter, Amy Burke and husband Jamie; step-son, Bobby Harless and wife Wendy; grandchildren: Caleb Harless, Joseph Harless and Samuel Harless; brother, Kenneth Marshall and wife Tina; sister: Linda Rogers and husband Larry; sister-in-laws: Carol Marshall and Elmira Marshall, along with several nieces, nephews, "sparring friend", Virginia Malone along with several other special friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 3, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Hobbie McCrary, officiating. The Eulogy will be read by Bob Cole. Special music will be provided by Virginia Malone and Beth Casey. Interment will be held on Sunday, November, 4, 2012 at 3:30 pm in East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Darren Malone, Aaron Marshall, Tony Marshall, Brian Rogers, Jeff Rogers, Ralph Lifford and Mike Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Blankenship, Freddie Bellamy, Victor France, Mark Marshall, Cecil Hutchins, Clay Hutson and Greg Marshall. Everyone is asked to assemble at the funeral home by 3:00 pm to go in procession to the cemetery.
