Mary Pauline Joyce Taylor, age 93, entered into rest April 26, 2012 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Sullivan County, a daughter to Robert L. and Kate Ladd Joyce, she was a lifelong resident of the area. Pauline was formerly employed as a LPN at Holston Valley Community Hospital. She was the oldest living member of Reedy Creek Presbyterian Church, and was very active in her church as long as health permitted, having served as treasurer for more than twenty years. Pauline was very talented with handiwork, making clothing for her family, but her real love was quilting, her children and grandchildren all have one of those treasures. She was also very active in bowling leagues having won many trophies.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Mack B. Taylor; grandson Timothy W. Lunsford; four brothers, Reuben Joyce, Dana Joyce, Louis Joyce, James Joyce; three sisters, Molly Bennett, Margaret Stewart and Lorene Worley. Survivors include one son, Claude E. Taylor and wife Berniece of Kingsport; one daughter, Anna Lee Lunsford and husband Alwayne of High Point, N.C.; three grandchildren, Amy Bender and husband Keith, Jill Parsons, Gregory Lunsford and wife Ayako; eight great-grandchildren, Quin Parsons, Zackary Parsons, Olivia Parsons, Sophie Bender, Fiona Bender, Lucy Bender, Kenzo Lunsford and Aika Lunsford; three sisters, Lynn Crisp, Nancy Purvis and Evelyn Elstro.
The family will receive friends today, Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2012 at East Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Reedy Creek Presbyterian Church.
