Shirl was a friend to everyone she knew. Shirl never met a stranger and was always first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She enjoyed cooking, hand quilting, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Shirl was preceded in death by her beloved husband James C. “J.C.” Cox in 1982; two sisters, Irene Cavin and Stella Bear; and two brothers, Lloyd Cavin and Robert “Bob” Cavin.
Left to cherish her wonderful memories are her sister, Edna Hutson; two brothers, Ray Cavin and Sevier Cavin & wife Bonnie; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews; great- great nieces and nephews, whom she loved and treated as her own; and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday (June 6, 2018) from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Kyle Chase officiating.
Shirl will be laid to rest beside of her beloved husband, “J.C.” on Wednesday (June 6, 2018) at 3:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Bear, Terry Hutson, Mike Cavin, David Cavin, Wade Cavin, Shannon Cavin, and Reggie Cavin.
The family will receive friends anytime at the home of Edna Hutson.
