Laura Anne Gilland passed away Friday, November 3, 2023. She was born December 1, 1980. She graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, TN and Brevard College in Brevard, NC. She was employed by Catawba College in Salisbury, NC, as Director of Student Conduct and Title IX Deputy Coordinator.
Laura loved all things nature, whether it was listening to the scream of a red-tailed hawk, watching the phoebes wag their tails while sitting on the fence in her backyard, or listening to the calls of barred owls at night while walking her dogs. She especially enjoyed activities that brought her closer to nature such as hiking, biking, canoeing, and kayaking. She loved her animals and while at home, was accompanied by her dogs, cats and rabbits.
Laura is survived by her parents, Jim and Linda Gilland of Kingsport, TN; brother David Gilland (Antje); and nephew James Gilland or Luneburg, Germany. She is also survived by a large extended family.
A memorial/Worship service will be conducted at 2:00pm. Thursday, December 21, 2023 in the East lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roger Wise officiating. Burial will follow in the East Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
