Janette Coates

Janette Coates, age 77 of Kingsport, entered into eternal rest with her Heavenly Father during the afternoon hours of Thursday, October 13, 2016. Janette was born in Sullivan County, TN on August 27, 1939 to the late Lawrence Hodges and the late Kate Isenburg Hodges.

Janette loved life; she cherished her family and friends. She could always be found farming and working in her yard. She loved nature and animals, and she was an accomplished artist. Janette was a devout Christian, and truly had a servant’s heart.

Janette was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Benjamin Coates. She is survived by her loving husband, Paul Coates; two daughters, Teresa Powell and husband Phillip, and Sherri Lea; son, Mark Coates and wife Dorinda; two grandchildren, Robbie Hicks, and Jessica Hall; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Hall, and Peyton Hall; step great-grandchild, Carley Creech; brother, Jack Hodges; sister, Mary Ann Sanders; and grand-dog, “Trixie”.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 16, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home in Kingsport, Tennessee. There will be a celebration of Janette’s life to follow at 7:00 pm in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Shelton II officiating.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
