Helen Pope, 79, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her family. Mrs. Pope was born on August 7, 1934 in Hawkins County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Bill Gibson and Laura Alley Gibson. She was retired from the Kingsport Press. Mrs. Pope was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ray Pope, great grandson, Gabriel Willis and one sister, Bobbie Lamb. Survivors include two daughters, Judy Rasnake and husband Darrell and Teresa Jessee and husband J.C.; four grandchildren, Alex Franklin and wife Sarah, Lance Rasnake and wife Janet, Laura Cochrane and husband Jeff and Kevin Willis and wife Mary Beth; six great grandchildren, Alexis, Timberly, Olivia, Abigail, Andrew and Joseph; five sisters, Ada Frost, Jerri Carberry, Linda Absher, Mary Ringley and Patsy Gibson and husband Jerry; a very special friend and brother-in-law, Leonard Lamb; several brother and sister-in-laws; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friend’s Friday, August 1, 2014 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services for Mrs. Helen Pope will be held Friday, August 1, 2014 at 8:00pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Amos officiating. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11:00am in the Garden of Love at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Pope’s grandsons. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Wellmont Oncology Services and Amedysis.
