Hassell D. Hutchins, age 92 of Kingsport, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 29, 2017. He was born on June 3, 1924 in Sullivan County, Tennessee to the late George and Flora Hutchins. Hassell was retired from Tennessee Eastman after many years of service. Hassell was of the Baptist Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother Grace Hutchins, three brothers and two sisters.
Hassell leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife of 67 years Dorothy Carrier Hutchins; three daughters: Judy Carter, Faye Lunsford and Edith Pierce and husband Steve; two sons: Carl Hutchins and wife Lorraine and Danny Hutchins; three brothers: Joe Hutchins, Donnie Hutchins and Wayne Hutchins; two sisters Ruth and Margaret; one granddaughter, five grandsons and several great grandchildren.
A funeral service to commemorate the life of Hassell Hutchins will be conducted on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 7:00 PM in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home, 4997 Memorial Blvd. Kingsport, Tennessee 37664 with Brother Larry Bales and Brother Steve Pierce officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until the funeral hour at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Garden of David at East Lawn Memorial Park with Mike Herron, Jessie Montgomery, Brent Carter, Frank Collins, Bennie Carter and Steve Pierce serving as pallbearers. Raymond Bright will be service as honorary pallbearer.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the doctors and staff of Indian Path Hospital, Brookhaven Manor Nursing Home, Amedisys Hospice, and Frank Collins for their loving care for Hassell.
