Franklin Henry Johnson, 83 passed away Monday (March 7, 2011) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Wilcox Hall. He was born on August 5, 1927, at Kyles Ford,TN and he was the son of the late Ellis E. Johnson and Betty A. Johnson. Franklin served in the Army in Germany in 1945 and he was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and a 32nd degree Freemason. He
was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where he attended for over 60 years. Franklin was a loving husband and father and he truly treasured his 18 grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Charlsie Mae Johnson; brothers Millard Johnson and Ellis Johnson, Jr.; and sister Lena Mathis. Franklin is survived by a daughter, Charlene Shelton and husband, Alvin of Kingsport, TN; son, Darell Johnson and wife,Susan of Kingsport, TN; and two sisters, Ruby Jane Wilder of Cookeville, TN; and Gladys L. Brewer of Sneedville, TN. He is survived by six grandchildren, Chad Shelton and wife, Kelly of Kingsport, TN; Toby Shelton and wife, Amanda of Raleigh, NC; Callie Jeter and husband, Jeffery of Charlotte, NC; Darell Johnson, Jr. and wife, Aundrea of Kingsport, TN; April Davis and husband, Josh of Greenback, TN; Aaron Johnson and wife, Ashlee of Kingsport, TN. He is survived by twelve great grandchildren: Hope Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Chance Davis,Skylar Davis, Jocelyn Davis, William Johnson, Raleigh Shelton, Delaney Shelton, Carter Shelton, Owen Shelton, Cole Shelton
and Henry Shelton. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Funeral Service will follow with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. Graveside service will
be held Friday at 11 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Chad Shelton, Toby Shelton, Darell Johnson, Jr., Aaron Johnson, Alvin Shelton and Chance Davis, great grandson, will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are: Roger Dale Rogers, Morris Rogers, Josh Davis, Jeffrey Jeter, Doug Collins and Donald Adkins. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant View Bapitst Church Benevolent Fund, 2101 Stadium Drive, Kingsport, TN. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Wilcox Hall, Holston Medical Group and his long time doctor, Steven Adkins.
