Dalmyra Idell Fuller Boardwine, 93, born August 17, 1920, in Russell County, Virginia, daughter of Ellis Larkin Fuller and Cuba Catherine Ratcliffe Fuller, died Friday, April 25, 2014 at her home in Kingsport, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gentry Boardwine in 1983, and her son, Robert Wayne Boardwine in 2013. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Booth, Fancy Gap, Virginia, and son, Michael D. Boardwine, Kingsport, Tennessee, and daughter-in-law Rebecca Boardwine, New Castle, Virginia. Grandchildren and their families are Dr. Caroline Booth Napier, husband Jason Napier, great granddaughter Ava Napier and great grandson, Jackson Napier, Kernersville, North Carolina; Trevor Boardwine Booth, Ashburn, Virginia; Erin Michael Boardwine, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Sgt. First Class Robert (Rob) Duane Boardwine, currently stationed in Afghanistan, wife Elizabeth and great granddaughter Madelyn, Fountain, Colorado; Blake Robbard Boardwine, wife Heather, and great granddaughter Isabel, Roanoke, Virginia and great grandson Aaron Boardwine, New Castle, Virginia; Betsy Delana Collier, husband Mark Collier, Roanoke, Virginia; Benjamin Aaron Boardwine, wife Jamie, great grandson Samuel Boardwine and great granddaughter Camryn Boardwine, New Castle, Virginia; Bonnie Boardwine Smith, husband Leroy Smith, great granddaughters MacKenna Boardwine, Maelyn Huffman, and Taryn Smith, and great grandson Haiden Huffman, New Castle, Virginia. Dalmyra, known as Miss Della to her friends, graduated high school at age 15 and moved from the Virginia Mountains to Kingsport where she met and married her husband of 44 years. They were charter members of Willow Chapel Primitive Baptist Church and were devoted to their lifetime friends there. A renowned seamstress, the only payment she ever accepted for her work was a "whatever you think its worth" donation to her church. She was an active member of her children's lives, always quick to travel to wherever she was needed and spent happy hours sharing her love of nature and reading with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Delmyra Idell Boardwine will be held Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 2:00pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scott Tipton and Pastor Frank Gilliam officiating. Committal will follow in the Garden of Hope of East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Blake Boardwine, Ben Boardwine, Trevor Booth, Aaron Boardwine, Jason Napier and Dave Clendennon. The family will receive friend’s Sunday, April 27, 2014 in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel from 12:00pm until 2:00pm. The family lovingly thanks close friends, Roberta Pierson, Colleen Clendennon, Garnetta Miller and Earika Marshall.
