Clara Elizabeth Waldo, 96, of Kingsport, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Born on July 29, 1918 in Kingsport, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas Grills and Lena Nurget Grills.She was an active member of Cedarview Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed camping and fishing and loved to travel with her husband while he was serving in the United States Army. In addition to her parents, William Thomas and Lena Nurget Grills, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Frank Waldo; sister, Ocea Grills; and brother, David Maxwell Grills. She is survived by her sons, Frank Waldo and his wife, Rebecca of Kingsport, Dan Waldo and his wife, Sharon of Gate City, and Dave Waldo and his wife, Kent of Church Hill; nephew, Wallace Grills and his wife, Barbara of Kingsport; three nephews and two nieces residing in CA, Ernie, Archie, Donnie, Paula Kay and Emily; great-nieces, Kandy Childress and Carmella Stair; great-nephew, Joe Grills; grandchildren, Brian Waldo and his wife, Tina, Kristin Marshall and her husband, Kevin, Jeremiah Waldo and his wife, Kim, and Kelley Waldo and Cara Waldo; and great-grandchildren, Sydney Waldo, Hayden Marshall, Maddie Marshall, Lillie Marshall, Alyson Waldo and Noah Waldo. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 28, 2014 at East Lawn Funeral Home with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Lay officiating. A graveside service will follow in the Garden of Apostles in East Lawn Memorial Park.
