April Dawn Bentley (May 9, 1967- October 23, 2024) passed suddenly at the age of 57. She lived in Blountville her whole life. She was a graduate of Sullivan Central High School, class of 1986, and a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelors in Fine Arts and Science. She recently retired from the Communication’s Industry with over 25 years of service.
April was preceded in death by her father Harry M. Bentley of Blountville, maternal grandparents John L. Hulse of Kingsport and Myrtle Roberson of Johnson City, and paternal grandparents Clyde and Georgia Bentley of Shady Valley. She is survived by her mother Lonita Bentley of Blountville, sister Kristy Bentley Scott of Elizabethton, and two nephews Samuel Scott and Caleb Kix Scott of Johnson City.
April loved to travel, she has been to many places throughout Asia and Africa. She traveled to China, Japan and Korea as a student ambassador. She traveled to Africa with family, where she was part of a Safari and walked with the lions. April was a true Tennessee Volunteer supporter and fan; she enjoyed working on different crafts in her spare time. Her biggest source of joy was her nephews Samuel and Caleb along with her dog Beau, which she spoiled always.
In lieu of flowers send donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shiners Children’s Hospital.
A gathering of friends and family for April will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at East Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 4997 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport, Tennessee 37664. A graveside & committal service will occur Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
