Lenna Smith, 93, a beloved homemaker, and devoted mother, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024. Following her wishes, cremation has been held and services will be held at a later date. Lenna Rose Smith was born in Burwell, Nebraska on June 16, 1930, the daughter of Francis and Jennie (Sparks) Moses. Lenna's journey began with a resilient spirit, she received her education in Burwell before embarking on a life filled with adventure, and creativity. As a teenager, Lenna ventured to Denver, where she embarked on a new chapter of her life. In 1948, she married Arvil Brackeen, and Dennis and Arvil D. and Steven were born. Lenna and Arvil shared the joys of raising horses and building a home for their family. Despite later parting ways in 1954, Lenna's resilience and warmth never faltered. In 1963, Lena found companionship with Vern Baker and to this union Stewart was born. She married Charles D. Smith in 1970 and together, they owned and operated Smith Auto Service in Brighton, Colorado, where Lena served as a dedicated bookkeeper. Lenna and Charles moved to Bushnell in 1998, Charles's passing in November 2002 marked a profound loss, yet Lenna's strength endured, a testament to her unwavering spirit. Lenna's legacy extends far beyond her professional endeavors. She was an avid collector of antiques and figurines, finding beauty in the cherished artifacts of the past. Her green thumb brought life to her surroundings, as she lovingly tended to her yard and gardens. Traveling the country in their RV, Lenna and Charles shared countless adventures, weaving memories that would last a lifetime. A true artisan, Lenna's creativity knew no bounds. Whether crocheting intricate designs or crafting heartfelt gifts for loved ones, her hands brought warmth and joy to all who knew her. Her culinary skills were renowned, especially during holiday gatherings, where her delectable meals brought loved ones together in celebration. Among Lenna's fondest memories was the simple joy of making "snow ice cream" for her children, a cherished tradition that encapsulated her boundless love and creativity. In her later years, Lenna found solace in Bushnell, Nebraska, where she continued to nurture her family and community until her move to Kimball County Manor in 2022. Lenna leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and creativity that will forever echo in the hearts of those she touched. She is survived by her loving sons Dennis and wife Gwen Brackeen of Lakewood, CO., and Stewart Baker of Kimball, NE; 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; many extended family and a community of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Smith, son Arvil D. Brackeen and Steven Wade Brackeen.
