Janice J. Snyder, 78, of Gering and formerly of Banner County, died at Heritage Estates in Gering on Monday, September 26, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the First English Lutheran Church in Kimball with Pastor Caryl Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friends may visit www.cantrellfh.com to view Janice’s Tribute Wall and leave stories for the family. Memorials have been established to the First English Lutheran Church in Kimball. The services for Janice have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Janice L. Snyder was born in the Kirk Community of Banner County on October 5, 1937, the daughter of Eddie and Flora May (Trumbull) Gulick. She received her early education from Flowerfield and graduated from the Banner County High School in 1955. Janice dated J.W. Snyder since she was in the ninth grade. They were married in Kimball on September 4, 1955. They lived in Kimball for six months and then moved to the farm in Banner County. Janice worked as a homemaker and farm wife. She spent many years supporting her husband with farm work and providing meals for the many farm hands they had over the 60 years they lived on the farm. They both lived on the farm until moving to Heritage Estates earlier this year. Janice was confirmed in to the Lutheran Faith and a member of the First English Lutheran Church and was a member of LLL Extension Club. She was an avid fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. She enjoyed traveling with her husband.
Survivors include her husband J.W. Snyder of Gering, NE; son Jeff (Marianne) Snyder of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Collette (Hal) Scheuerman of Deerfield, KS; sisters Maxine Lanning of Cheyenne, WY., Glenna Streeks of Gering, NE., and her twin sister Janett (Harold) Connour of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren Shayna Snyder, Kelsey Scheuerman, Krista Scheuerman, Shanay Snyder, Jayden Snyder and Jordyn Snyder. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Imogene Anderson and Donna Olsen.
