Janet lived in Kimball, Nebraska in her younger years where she met her future husband William "Bill" Wells while his family came from Oklahoma to work the oil fields in the Nebraska area. They married on October 22, 1958, in Greeley, Colorado.
While making their home in Kimball two of their children, Tammy Lynn and Tonya Sue, were born. Janet, Bill, and the girls traveled throughout the western states following the oil business. Soon the Wells clan got bigger with daughter Billie June born in Gillette, Wyoming, son Ronald Maurice in Fairfax, Oklahoma and daughter Rebecca Ruth in Sundance, Wyoming.
In 1976 they decided to stay in one place so that their children could finish their schooling, making Casper, Wyoming their home base.
Janet worked many years selling tires for Cobra Tires and earned numerous awards for her accomplishments while there. When not working she was hauling her kids and horses to rodeos and making lifelong friends along the way.
Janet was always involved in her kid's activities, if it was rodeos, 4H or FFA, she always showed up. During the hectic events Janet also helped Bill raise over 30 head of quarter horses, feeding in the winter wearing Bill's Carhartt overalls was not her favorite but Janet always persevered.
Eventually, horses were sold, and the kids were out of the home so Janet and Bill would adventure to California and Idaho.
Janet always found things to keep herself busy, she sold Princess House Crystal just so she could meet people, also she loved putting her roses in the county fairs that Bill and she grew together.
Janet and Bill soon would hit the road to Florida and think about retiring, picking up her mother Viola along the way, the three of them enjoyed many adventures at every stop.
Once in Englewood, Florida, retirement did not last long, Janet went to work for a discount medical supply company.
Finally, Janet was in her happy place, where the sun was always shining, and every day seemed like a vacation wearing her flip flops. Janet and Bill both did things they never got to do, Tammy and Russ always found fun things that everyone would enjoy, from trips to Key West to weekend NASCAR events. Bill and Janet found a love for Jimmy Buffet and his music.
Then the news of Bill having cancer put a wrench in their plans, but Janet always made it work, she made sure to always make it to Bill's doctors' appointments and always told him she loved him before rushing back to work.
Janet lost her husband Bill, October 21, 2002, one day before their 44th Wedding Anniversary.
Then on May 9, 2018, their oldest daughter Tammy passed from a difficult battle with cancer as well.
Janet and her mother Viola lived together until Viola's passing on Dec 15, 2020.
When Janet's health started to decline due to her diabetes and the start of dementia, she moved back to Casper, Wyoming and lived with her daughter Rebecca and Bill. Bill always made sure Janet had what she needed and took care of her like his own. Janet always lit up saying there's that Mr. Man.
Even with health issues, Janet still traveled back and forth to Florida, went camping with family, spent time with her sisters in Kimball Nebraska, time with her daughter Billie June in North Carolina where she got to go see the beautiful lights at the Chinese Festival.
Janet was always saying "Oh it was very nice."
Janet's daughters and grandkids all played the role of caregivers although Janet hated them waiting on her. They will miss the nonstop feet pictures due to Janet not knowing how to use the new phone.
Traveling got a little harder once the dementia progressed and Janet could no longer walk. After a week hard battle of comfort care, Janet went home on October 19, 2023, with her family by her side.
