Dorothy E. Brothers, 99, of Dix, died at Kimball Health Services on Saturday, October 22, 2022. Cremation has been held and graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022 in the Kimball Cemetery with Pastor Warren Cico officiating. Dorothy Ellen Brothers was born in Kearney, Nebraska on August 27, 1923, the daughter of Rexford and Effie (Gunderson) Graham. In April 1926, her parents, brother Don and Dorothy moved to Dix, Nebraska. She attended the Dix Public Schools and graduated in 1941. Dorothy was married to Glen Edwin Brothers on August 17, 1941 in the Kimball Presbyterian Church. They made their home on a farm 12 miles northeast of Dix where they enjoyed life together for more than 60 years. Dorothy was a former member of Dix Country Gardeners, Nebraska Wheat Hearts, and President of Neighborettes Extension Club. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and baking. She loved entertaining and being with family and friends. She became a member of the Potter United Methodist Church on March 19, 1978, she served on the Administrative Council and the Campus Ministry Committee. She taught Sunday school classes and was active on the Potter United Methodist Women’s Group with their prayer chain ministry. Sh was secretary for the Kimball County Historical Society, a Farm Bureau member, Secretary and Treasurer for the Bethel Cemetery Association, secretary for their business “Ag Accessories” for 35 years. She was a kind and caring grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include her sons Dennis (Pat) Brothers of Potter, NE., and Roger (DiAnna) Brothers of Dix, NE; son-in-law Dale Clarey of Gering, NE; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Lana Kay Clarey, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
