Junior passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. He was born on January 26, 1943 in Lampasas, Texas. He is preceded in death by his father, William Andrew Hooten, Sr., mother, Charlie Dois Williams Hooten, and his brother David Ray Hooten and sister-in-law Mary White Hooten.
Junior is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patsy Hooten of Killeen, his son Jason Hooten and his wife Kristen, his brother James Douglas Hooten, sister Linda Hooten Rawls and her husband Mickey, sister Pam Hooten Disher and husband Ralph and his grandchildren Jadyn and Jayce Hooten. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Junior attended Killeen High school and graduated in the class of 1961. He then attended Sam Houston State University and Tarleton State University. After that he began working for his father at the family Texaco station. He then began his work with Odell Geer construction for over 30 years. Junior lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; coaching Jason’s baseball teams for many years from little league to adult fast pitch softball, working in his yard, chatting with friends and family, and discussing sports with his “Thursday morning coffee group”. One of Junior’s favorite things to do was spending time with his grandchildren, Jadyn and Jayce. They were definitely his pride and joy and he loved watching them play sports which was one of his passions. He and Patsy were avid fans of Sam Houston State basketball where they would travel all over watching Jason coach.
