Randolph (Randy) Boyd Jr, 50 years of age, went on to be with his heavenly Father on August 25, 2021 with his wife at his side. He was born in Stuttgart, Germany on March 30, 1971 to the union of Randolph (Sr) and Katherine Boyd. Randy came to know Christ and baptized at a young age at Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Dallas (GMOBC) under the Pasturage of D. C. Presley/ now under leadership of Pastor Lionel Alexander in Dallas, Texas where he accepted his love of God as shown throughout his life.
Randy spent much of his childhood years as a military child residing in various states across the country until his family finally moved to Ft. Hood, TX where he graduated from Killeen High School in 1989. His passion for music and being an accomplished musician allowed Randy opportunities upon graduation not only working in the music industry: writing, producing and recording his own music, but to also work alongside numerous music artists later co-owning and operating his own music recording studio. He later worked many years in the mortgage industry while volunteering as a youth mentor assisting at GMOBC, his home church with his focus on “young men becoming positive leaders in the home and community”. Randy later became an Officer with the Austin Police Department where he served 7 years until his passing.
Randy married Erica (Dapretta) in 2011 with whom he first met while they attended middle school and later reunited. Randy and Erica were blessed to have twin sons, Austin and Hunter, who were truly the greatest joys of his life. Randy was passionate about his faith in Christ, his family and music. He always pursued opportunities to stimulate his mind and enrich his life.
Randy is survived by his wife; Erica, sons; Austin and Hunter, parents; Randolph Sr and Katherine Boyd, sister; J. Mechelle Riggens (Ronald) and two nephews; Khiry and De'Jour Riggens and many aunts, uncles, cousins and his in-laws, all who will greatly miss and forever love him.
Randy's life was a living example of a verse in which his family hopes we can hold in our hearts as a remembrance of Randy, 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrong."
His family would like to add some of Randy's last words he sent in a message to Erica that he wished to be passed on to others in the event of his passing that may help us as we navigate through life or give encouragement in some way: "When you get desperate, then things get dangerous", "Know your circle of competence and stay in it", "Great minds don't think alike, they think for themselves", "I'm committed to being on time, dedicated to being a student of my craft, and I will participate in life, staying clear of any reckless behavior", "Dreaming is free, pursuing your dream will cost you", "Today, I'm not going to be a hindrance or stumbling block to those who are just as focused and committed as I", "If you touch the heart, then you are limitless."
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church in Killeen, 3310 S. W.S. Young Dr, Killeen, Texas 76542 on Sep 3, 2021 from 9-11am with services immediately following. Burial will be at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
The family requests masks be worn by all who attend.
