Katrina Marie Stone

Katrina M. Brooks was born in May 1951, the eldest child of Gilbert and Helen Brooks. Kathy spent her early years in West Virginia but her father's work with National Public Radio soon took her to other places, including Las Vegas, Nevada and upstate New York.

Kathy married her first husband, Peter G. Stone, soon after graduating from college with a BA in Marine Biology. Kathy learned scuba diving on her honeymoon. Peter was a lieutenant in the army and served tours in Vietnam. While stationed in Alabama, Kathy learned to ride horses. Kathy competed in dressage, show jumping, and point-to-point events. In 1978, Kathy and Pete (along with two horses, two dogs, and three cats) moved to Texas.

Pete left the army and passed away in 1982. Stephen R. Bodkin moved in with Kathy in 1984, to help her care for her horses (there were three by this time). Steve and Kathy soon became a couple and were married in 2004. Kathy enjoyed murder mystery dinners and participated in many of them.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Killeen.
