It is with great sadness that the family of Karen Eileen Fanning announces her passing after losing her battle with depression, on Monday, July 30, 2018, at the age of 53. Karen was born in Binghamton, NY and died in Nolanville, TX. Karen will be lovingly remembered by her wife, Kim, her father, Joseph and his wife Pat, her brothers and sisters Joe (Claudia), Paul (Jeanne), Mary, Michelle (Darrin), Carolyn (Jerry), Suzanne (Bobby) and Jennifer (Fred). Karen will also be fondly remembered by her 14 nephews and nieces, Danny (Sarah), Brandon (Angele’), Jason, Katie (Wesley), Matthew, Brennan, Ryan, Kelsey, Payton, Thomas, Lauren, Grace, Claire and Ashlynn, and two great nephews, Phillip and Matthew. Karen will also be forever remembered by friends from all over the country, whom she loved dearly. Karen was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Eileen “Claire” Fanning.
Karen graduated from Killeen High School in 1983 where she was a drummer for the KHS Marching Band. She received her Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Central Texas College. Karen served as a police officer, EMT and fire fighter for the City of Nolanville. For the last 25 years, she has been a truck driver for Schneider National, where she was inducted into the company’s Hall of Fame and recognized for over Two Million Miles of safe driving.
Karen’s love for her cats was well known by all. They brought great joy to her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Harker Heights Animal Shelter, any no-kill animal shelter or www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2018 from 4:00-8:00pm. Rosary will be said at 7:00pm. Funeral will be on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 11:00am. Both services will be held at St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church, located at 1000 Farm to Market 2410 in Harker Heights.
