Frank was born on September 24, 1955 in Winkels, Germany to Ben & Alice Schimmel Fajkus while his father was stationed in the US Army and was the oldest child of six.
He graduated from Killeen High School in 1973 and was looking forward to attending his upcoming 50th class reunion. While at KHS he was enrolled in the radio and television repair class. He went on to attend Central Texas College to learn auto body repair. He worked at various businesses including Twin Lakes Tractor, Centroplex Ford and Granite by Design but was self-employed for many years. Everyone knew him as the person who could fix anything with a motor. We cannot even guesstimate how many automobiles, lawn mowers, tractors, weed eaters and other small engine repairs he has fixed and for friends in Central Texas.
Frank was a simple man and had a minimalist lifestyle. He loved attending the Mother Earth News fairs, flea markets and car shows. One of his prized possessions is his 1966 convertible Ford Mustang. He enjoyed fishing and all things to do with the Earth, including planting vegetable gardens, composting, recycling, & raising earthworms. He was a member of the Bell/Coryell Beekeeper Association and also attended bible study classes at New Sunset Community Church in Killeen. He never met a stranger and was a very quiet man of few words but he could also talk your ear off.
Frank is survived by four brothers and one sister, Richard Fajkus and wife Debbie of Belton, Benny Fajkus and wife Pam of Belton, Jimmy Fajkus of Killeen, Debbie Morrison and husband Glenn of Killeen & Wayne Fajkus and wife Elizabeth of Kempner. Although he did not have children of his own, he adored the many nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and great-nieces that were in his huge family. He is also survived by his best friend of over 50 years, Michael Barkley of Belton and has many life-long friends in his life that will miss him dearly.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Ben & Alice Schimmel Fajkus & nephew Thomas Justin Fajkus.
A celebration of life will be held at First United Methodist Church Killeen, 3501 E. Elms Road at 11:00am on Thursday, April 27, 2023. We welcome you to join us to share your memories and stories of our sweet brother Frank.
