Earl retired from the Air Force in 1969 as a Flight Engineer and then owned and operated several full service garages prior to becoming an insurance salesman. He has been a resident of Killeen for over 30 years. Earl always enjoyed watching old movies, traveling and sharing memories with others.
Earl is survived by his wife Ruth Nome, brother Melvin, three children - Wes from Eagle River, AK, Durlinda from Scottsdale, AZ and Tama from Cumming, GA, five grandchildren – Angie, David, Pete, Dylan and Zack, and three great grandchildren – Brooke, Riley and Casey.
The Layton family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 10:00 AM – 12:00 noon on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen. A Graveside service will follow the visitation at 1:00 PM in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with full Military honors.
