Dwight graduated from San Jon High School, Class of 1959, where he was class President all four years and played Varsity Baseball and Basketball. Following graduation, he attended Wayland Baptist University where he played Basketball, and met the love of his life.
Dwight was drafted into the military in 1963 and spent 22 years proudly serving our country. He was in the Army’s 1st Calvary Division where he served as an Aviation and Infantry Officer. He was a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam war, in which he served two tours and earned a Distinguished Flying Cross, 2 Bronze Stars, and 54 Air Medals. He was later in charge of the Allied Training program for the Army’s flight school in Fort Rucker, Alabama where he hosted pilots from all over the world.
Dwight married Mary Evelyn August 5, 1967. They were married for 54 years, and he would always say, “Mary ordered me the day she was born,” since they were exactly 9 months apart in age. They had 3 children and 3 beautiful grandchildren that were his pride and joy. Dwight loved God, he loved his country, and his family was his greatest treasure. He was a devoted husband, father, and papa. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Roy Jobe, Troy Jobe, Duane Jobe, and Wade Darrell Jobe.
After the military Dwight went back to his cowboy roots. He began to breed horses, cattle, and raised chickens. He loved animals and nature. He loved sitting on the back porch swing with his love to watch the birds, cows, and horses in the pastures. Dwight had a thirst for knowledge and loved history and reading. He loved music and passed his passion for song down to his family. His biggest hobbies were his grandchildren. Most weekends he would be found sitting on the sidelines of a field, courtside, or in a theater. He never met a stranger and was known for his love and laughter.
Though he is no longer with us, he will forever be in our hearts! We know he is finally at peace and pain free and having a grand time in Heaven. He loved the Lord and wanted everyone to have the opportunity of everlasting life. He was our biggest cheerleader, and we all know he will forever be cheering us on!
He leaves behind until reunited again- his wife, Mary Evelyn Jobe, his three children: Shelby, Karlotta and Husband Michael, and Hally and husband Christopher. His three grandchildren: Danie, Caleb, and Jackson. He is also survived by two brothers Alfred Jobe and William Lee Jobe, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
