Mrs. Haun died February 19, 2014. She was born July 9, 1947 in Gatesville Texas to Thomas Allen Gallaway and Millicie Lavada Gallaway. She was the oldest daughter of four children.
John Luther Haun stole her heart with his smooth dance skills and they were married September 1,1971, in Harker Heights and made their home in Killeen, Texas. While raising three kids, Darlene worked at Centel, Wilco Graphics, Sprint, Embarq, Killeen Daily Herald and Furniture Zone, but her passion came later in life as she became a grandmother and was known as Dee Dee.
Dee Dee was fortunate enough to spend her retirement years raising grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. Oh, how she loved watching them.
Mrs. Haun was preceded in death by her husband John Luther Haun in 2009; her mother Millicie Lavada Gallaway, father Thomas Allen Gallaway, and one sister Joy Lynn Gallaway.
Survivors included a brother, Terry Allen Gallaway and wife Linda, of Morgans Point, sister, Judy Gail Whitson and husband Bob of Belton; three children; Johnny Haun and wife Laura of Belton, John T. Haun and wife Maria of Killeen, and Justin Ross Haun of Killeen. She was blessed with seven grandchildren; who were her reason for living as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The family wishes to thank all of those who blessed her life with their friendship, love and prayers. Her sons would like to especially thank the staff of Scott & White Continuing Care Hospital for providing her with excellent care and companionship. Memorials may be made to any Alzheimer's Association in memory of her mother Lavada Gallaway, or in her memory to any charity of your choice.
Darlene wished to be cremated and there will be no viewing service and her ashes will later be placed with her husband at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery.
