Marie Grace Marine, aged 96, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2024, in Madera, California. Born on August 17, 1928, in Pueblo, Colorado, Marie was known for her warm smile, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family.
Marie was the daughter of Ramon and Arcadia Marín. She was very close with her siblings; Joseph, Jesse, Guadalupe, and Josephine. Growing up, Marie did not have the opportunity to attend high school. She earned exemplary grades in school and completed the eighth grade but was encouraged to pursue work rather than complete her education. This was due to the time and beliefs that educating women was not of importance.
Marie was married to Anthony (Tony) Marine, Sr. for 63 years. Together, they raised three sons: Tony Jr., Robert, and Steven. While her husband served in World War II, Marie worked full-time jobs and raised Tony Jr., until her husband returned from Alaska. Marie’s children never lacked anything growing up. She worked diligently to provide for her children and managed to maintain a spotless home. She cooked excellent meals and prepared fresh tortillas, beans, and chile every day.
Marie valued education and encouraged a strong work ethic in her children. Marie also volunteered as a den mother when her sons participated in Boy Scouts. She wanted her children to earn good grades and have more educational opportunities than she or her husband had.
Marie enjoyed sports such as golfing, skiing, and swimming. She also loved her little dog companions: Dino, Peaches, and Jewel. She took excellent care of her poodles and loved them dearly. Marie loved to shop and always left the mall with a bargain and a gift for someone in her family.
Perhaps, more than anything, she loved her grandchildren. She spent as much time as she could with them and showered them with advice, recipes, and life lessons. Holidays at Marie’s house were marked with her delicious mole, rice, beans, potato salad, and jello. Marie was meticulous in the way she organized her home as she took great pride in the care of her house and family. Her love for her family was evident in so many ways. She taught her grandchildren to pray and speak to God. Marie prayed over her children and grandchildren each day.
Marie was predeceased by her husband, Anthony (Tony) Marine, Sr. and grandchildren Noelle and Devin. She is survived by her sister, Josephine Banuelos. She is also survived by her sons, Tony, Jr., Robert, and Steven and daughters-in-law: Rebecca, Kathy, and Patricia. Her grandchildren: Monica, Jennell, Elena, Sandra, Stephanie, Stacy along with her great grandchildren: Darion, Vanessa, Elissa, Amarís, Samantha, Kayla, Jake, Luciana, Arthur, Jr. and Audrey.
