Mervin Leonard Howard
March 19, 1936 – May 7, 2012
Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on March 19 1936 to Dorothy and Leonard Howard and passed away at his residence, Pinecrest Home, in Kenora May 7, 2012 at the age of 76 years.
Mervin is survived by family, Diane Paroby , and her children Jory Paroby and Warren Paroby, Mervin’s children Wayne (Pat) of Emo Ontario, Scott, Terry Serduletz (Jack) Dean, Douglas (Cyndy) of Kenora and his grandchildren Nickolas Serduletz, Andrew (Danika) Serduletz, Marissa (Matt) Stiers. Also mourning his passing are his two sisters Eileen Brabrooke and Myrna (Doug) Porlier.
Mervin started working for the Department of Highways fresh out of high school from the young age of 18. He worked in a variety of departments until his retirement. He mostly enjoyed the earlier years when he was a heavy duty mechanic and welder, moving onto work in the MTO sign shop and later the MTO radio room. He was always taking motors a part, dissecting old cars, then putting them back together to make an even better machine, usually one that would fit in his homemade dune buggy for fishing and hunting expeditions with the boys! He loved fishing so much he made his own jigs and spinners to help him in the quest for the big one! Mervin loved fishing and hunting and spent every free moment in search of the newest trophy fish or prime fishing spot. He passed on his love of the sport, knowledge of the secret spots, and his respect of the land to his children.
Cremation has taken place and as per his wishes a small gathering of family and his closest friends will take place at Pinecrest Home.
The family would like to thank the staff at Birchwood and Pinecrest Home for the Aged for the care and compassion shown to Dad these last few years. The family respectfully declines flowers but if friends so desire a donation to the Heart and Stoke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.
