After a life well lived, Joseph Zabloski passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the age of 78 years. He is now resting in the arms of the love of his life Jeannine who predeceased him in May 2010.
He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter Joelle {Thomas}, sons Patrick {Sandra} and Timothy {Susan}, as well as the apples of his eye, his grandchildren, Sean {Theresa}, Daryl, Bailey, Christopher {Crystal}, Kyle, Amanda and Cole and his special friend Jaxyn.
He also leaves behind his sisters Mary Strawa and Anne (Bob) Gosse, his brothers William (Mary) and Henry (Dorothy), sisters-in-law Rose, Doreen, Dorothy and Irene and brother-in-law Robert, plus many wonderful nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Steve and Francis Zabloski and sisters Stella and Rose, brothers Michael, John, Paul, Peter and Walter.
Dad was born, raised and lived his entire life in Kenora. He attended Lakewood High School where he was very active in sports. He remained an avid player and fan of sports his entire life. He worked four years for the CPR then moved on to become a millwright in 1955 at the Kenora Paper Mill, where he worked until his retirement in 1991.
Along the way he met a little french girl from St. Pierre-Jolys who would become his beloved wife on October 19, 1957. They built their home and raised their family together and shared many interests. Dad was an active gardener, loved nature, picking berries and mushrooms, tinkering, woodworking, following current events and sports.
Dad was an active member of the Wildcats (his special gang), the Royal Canadian Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He volunteered for many various community organizations and was always willing to lend a helping hand with a smile and a good word for everyone.
His family was the cornerstone of his life but his greatest joy was becoming a grandfather, Gigi. There was nothing he would not do for his grandchildren. He was their hero.
Dad was a good man who fought his battles in life with never a complaint. He was always a gentleman and always "OK". Words cannot express our sorrow at his passing.
We love you Dad/Gigi!
The family would like to thank Dr. Beveridge who was always there for this family when we needed him. We would also like to thank the nurses, admitting staff at Lake of the Woods District Hospital and anyone else who helped him on his journey.
A Celebration of his Life will be held Friday, September 9, 2011 at 11:00 at the Notre Dame du Portage Parish.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation, Cancer Society, the Notre Dame du Portage Roof Fund or a charity of your choice.
