December 12, 1977-September 20th, 2018
It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Eric Wickman after a courageous battle with cancer. With his loving family and friends at his bedside, Eric left this world peacefully to start his next journey.
Eric was a larger than life kind of man. He was a loyal and trusted friend, stubborn in his beliefs, gifted at writing, an intellect and had in interest in science and space. His jokester side loved to torment his two cats Tucker and Asia. Eric tackled challenges head on. This was evident when he completed 18 holes of golf but suffered for days afterwards. It was worth it to him.
For over 20 years, he worked as a Millwright with the Thunder Bay Local 1151. His job took him all over the country but he regretted the time spent away from his beloved daughter Rylee and wife Shannon.
Eric’s home was always warm and inviting. You would find him playing his guitar trying to master a song or just listening to music. Any sports game would suffice on TV. Cancer may have ravished his body but it did not take his soul and sense of humor. He could make us all laugh no matter the situation. He believed his greatest accomplishment in life was his daughter Rylee. Eric loved and cherished every moment with her. Her Daddio!
He leaves behind his loves; wife Shannon, daughter Rylee, brother Leif (Carly), mother Karen Wickman, In-Laws Lise Dupere, Wayne (Mary-Ann) Earley, Ma Mere and Shane Earley, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father Wes Wickman, grandparents Fred and Helga Wickman, Paul and Helen Repo.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Pellatt United Fire Fighters Hall on September 29th from 1-4 pm. coffee and sandwiches will be served. In Lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Lake of The Woods Hospital Foundation or Pellatt Community Center.
Eric wanted to be remembered by informing people to be their own advocates for their health and that “Our time is limited on this earth make every second count”.
