Durand, Donna Irene (nee: Lytwinuk)
March 10, 1946 – October 5, 2020
It is with great sadness our family announcing the sudden passing of Donna Durand at home on October 5th 2020 in her 74th year.
Left to mourn her loss are her beloved children, Chris (Kyla), Anthony and Sheila; her twin sister, Helen Lytwenuk; her grandchild, Brittany Cameron (Brett Snifeld) whom she was extremely proud of; her great grandchild, Alexander Snifeld and her sister-in-law, Claudette Durand
She leaves this world to join her loving husband of 55 years, Donald Durand; her parents, William and Nellie Lytwinuk; her sister, Ann Foreman (Alan), William Lywinuk Jr. (Ellen), Jean Anthony (Bob), Mary Gendron, and many more loved ones.
Donna and her twin sister Helen were the first set of twins born in Minaki Ontario. Delivered by their father on a cold winter morning. As a teenager, Donna worked at the Minaki Lodge as a chambermaid, later in life she then became a telephone operator for Bell Canada.
Married at the age of nineteen to the love of her life Donald Durand. Widowed at a young age of 40, she converted from a homemaker to a single working Mom of three. She took on her new life challenges of getting her driver's license, career and uprooting from the Minaki Hwy. to Kenora. Donna worked at Pinecrest Home of the Aged until she retired.
Donna enjoyed knitting immensely, which a lucky few received her projects. She loved playing bingo with her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and spending time outside. She also enjoyed her computer games, and relaxing reading a good book.
The biggest joy of her life was spending time with her great grandson.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lass for her kindness and empathy. Brett Snifeld for his life attempt of lifesaving efforts. The loving support of family, friends and colleagues.
With deep regret and sadness, the family is very sorry to say that due to Covid 19 the Celebration of her life will be postponed until a later date.
